Project 23-2272 - August 4, 2026 update
Streets affected: Clarkway Drive and Countryside Drive
Construction work starting in your area
Peel Region will be working in your neighborhood. We will be installing the watermain and sanitary sewers along Clarkway Drive and Countryside Drive, as shown in the attached map.
- Watermains are underground pipes that bring tap water from our water treatment facility to your area.
- Sanitary sewers are underground pipes that carry wastewater from your home or business to a water resource recovery facility. Wastewater is created when water goes down the drain or is flushed down the toilet.
Construction schedule
Construction started in Summer 2026 and will be completed in the Spring 2027. These timelines are estimates, as weather and other unexpected events may impact our timelines. All work is under warranty for two years from the completion date.
Contractor and working hours
The work will be completed by Ward and Burke and supported by Arcadis as the Consultant, both under contract in which the Contractor will be working outside of normal working hours (i.e. working on weekends and overnight between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m) to reduce the impact of our work on traffic congestion and to expedite the work schedule. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by this work.
Interrupting your water supply
We anticipate that this construction project will require temporarily shutting off your water.
For residents:
- It is our goal to let you know 48 hours (2 days) in advance if we plan to shut off your water for an extended period (several hours). Occasionally we may have to reduce this notice to 24 hours.
- If we need to shut off your water for a short duration (less than one hour), we will knock on your door to notify you.
- If we must shut off your water due to an emergency, we will knock on your door to alert you, and do everything we can to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
For businesses:
- If a continuous water supply is required for your business and you have not already completed a water needs survey, please contact us to let us know when and how your business uses water.
- If we must shut off your water due to an emergency, we will knock on your door to alert you, and do everything we can to fix the problem as quickly as possible
Traffic impacts
- A temporary full closure of Clarkway Drive, south of Countryside Drive, will be in place for the duration of the project starting Monday, July 20, 2026, weather permitting.
- A temporary single-lane closure on Countryside Drive, between Clarkway Drive and Coleraine Drive, will be in place for the duration of the project starting Monday, July 20, 2026, weather permitting
During this time, traffic will be directed by police officers or flag persons. The onsite contractor will guide emergency service vehicles and school buses through the closure.
Access to homes or business will be maintained.
Waste collection
If you receive Peel waste collection, your garbage, recycling, and organics will be picked up on your regularly scheduled day. It’s the contractor’s responsibility to move these bins from the end of your driveway to a location where waste collection vehicles can pick them up. Please make sure your house number is marked on each bin, so they are returned to the right address
Driveway access
We’ll knock on your door if we have to block your driveway. If a trench blocks your driveway access, the contractor will provide metal road plates. We will work to ensure businesses can be accessed. Contact us if you have any access needs.
Construction safety
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe. Be aware of your surroundings when driving, walking, or biking near the construction area. Watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, and consider other routes. Learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones.
