Project 19-2215 – March 31, 2025 update
Area affected: Jack Darling Memorial Park – Leash Free Area interruption
Peel Region is planning on installing a new a trunk sewer and sub-transmission main along Lakeshore from Jack Darling Park to Elmwood Avenue.
To complement the detailed design, we will be completing a geotechnical field test to gather additional information within the dog park in Jack Darling Park.
To complete the work safely, all leash free areas at Jack Darling Park will be closed while work is taking place. This closure will occur on April 7th 2025, and April 8th 2025, between the hours of 8AM to 5PM. Gates will be locked during these working hours.
Signage will be posted onsite advising of this activity.

The toboggan hill leash free area is currently closed for the winter and not our scheduled work. This area will not be opened once we are complete our work, but when weather allows.
What to expect
During the field test, we will be drilling deep into the ground, generating construction-level noise.
Work schedule
The investigation is scheduled to occur on April 7th and April 8th. These timelines are estimates, as weather and other unexpected events may impact our timelines.
Contractor and working hours
The work will be completed by WSP under contract to Peel Region. The normal working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with the local municipality’s bylaws. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but shorter working days would require the park to be under construction for a longer period of time.
