Project 19-2215 - December 11, 2025 update
Streets affected: Lakeshore Road at Richards Memorial Park and Front Street North at Marina Park
Project update
Peel Region will be installing a new watermain and large sanitary sewer along Lakeshore Road between Jack Darling Memorial Park and Elmwood Avenue, and a new sanitary sewer on Wesley Avenue from Park Street to Lakeshore Road. We will also be replacing a section of watermain between Ibar Way and Shawnmarr Road. For more information on the project, visit our project webpage.
Richards Memorial Park
To complete this work, we will need an active working compound (construction site) on the south side of the boulevard of Lakeshore Road West, at Richards Memorial Park. This working compound will be used to access the tunnel and install the new large trunk sewer on Lakeshore Road.
We have started setting up our compound and will require it until Fall 2027. During this time, the bus stop at this location will be closed. An existing bus stop is available nearby, just west of Balboa Drive.
The Lakeshore Road West Trail (multi-use trail on the south side of Lakeshore Road) will be re-routed around the working compound while it is in place. We expect the multi-use trail detour to be in place as early as January 5, 2026. The trail detour and compound are shown on an attached map.
These dates are approximate and may change due to weather conditions or other unexpected events.
Marina Park - Front Street North
Additionally, to complete this work we will need a working compound (construction site) on the east side of the boulevard on Front Street North. This compound will be an important working area for the project and will be used to dig tunnels and install the new large trunk sewer and watermain on Lakeshore Road.
Marina Park North, the parking lot, and the sidewalk on the east side of the roadway will all be closed due to the construction site. The bus stop on the east side of Front Street North, south of the High Street intersection, will be relocated to just north of the High Street intersection. The compound is shown on an attached map.
We anticipate starting to set up the working compound as early as January 5, 2026, and will require it into Fall 2028. These dates are approximate and may change due to weather conditions or other unexpected events.
