Project 19-1302
Streets affected: West Drive and Queen Street East.
Advance notice and pre-design field investigation
As part of the Flow Central Brampton Program, Peel Region will be replacing the existing watermains, valves and valve chambers in your area within the next 2 years. This map shows the construction plan on West Drive and Queen Street East.
Watermains are underground pipes that bring tap water from our water treatment facility to your area. Valves are mechanical parts that help turn the watermain on or off by controlling the flow of water through a pipe.
Valve chambers are underground spaces that allow workers to access and operate the valves for maintenance.
As pipes and valves age, we need to improve and replace them to provide you with high-quality water services.
Construction will take place in the municipal right-of-way. This includes the street and the municipal-owned land between the street and the water service box, a small, round, metal valve located outside on the property line between your home or business and the road. This work may impact the bottom of your driveway and the area around the sidewalk. We recommend that you delay major landscaping or driveway paving until construction is completed.
Before construction begins
Before we start construction, we will be in your area conducting field investigations along West Drive and Queen Street East.
- We will survey your street and use temporary spray paint or flags on roads, driveways, and lawns to locate underground gas, hydro, cable and other utilities.
- We may drill holes in the road or municipal right-of-way to collect soil samples, determine ground conditions, or confirm existing utility locations.
- We will take pictures and videos to help restore the area as close as possible to its former condition, after construction takes place.
We expect to complete this construction in 2 phases.
- Phase 1 activities along West Drive will take place between August and late December 2025.
- Phase 2 activities along Queen Street East will take place between September 2025 and July 2026.
Consultant and working hours
Phase 1 activities will be completed by Vic’s Group and Phase 2 activities will be completed by JD Barnes, under contract to Peel Region. Additional investigation consultants to complete Phase 2 activities are still to be confirmed. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws.
Traffic impacts
There may be minor traffic disruptions during these activities. If we must reroute traffic, we will place signs giving directions.
