    Project 18-1357 - March 18, 2025 update

    Watermain replacement and improvement

Streets affected: Queen Street West and McLaughlin Road Intersection

Peel Region has been working in your neighbourhood to replace the watermain along Queen Street West. This work is required to maintain and improve existing water.

Temporary lane reductions and turning restrictions will be required while we work through the intersection of Queen Street West and McLaughlin Road. This work will be completed in two stages while we move west through the intersection. Stage 2 will begin immediately after Stage 1.

Stage 1: Wednesday, March 26, until Tuesday, April 1, 2025 (weather dependent)
    Description

Stage 1: Wednesday, March 26, until Tuesday, April 1, 2025 (weather dependent)

Stage 2: Wednesday, April 2, until Monday, April 7, 2025 (weather dependent)
    Description

Stage 2: Wednesday, April 2, until Monday, April 7, 2025 (weather dependent)

    Traffic impacts

    • The intersection of McLaughlin Road and Queen Street West will have lane reductions in all directions. Please expect delays and choose alternate routes if possible.
    • It will be necessary to dig a temporary trench in the intersection of Queen Street West and McLaughlin Road, as shown in the diagrams below. For this reason, it will not be possible to turn left from McLaughlin Road South/McLaughlin Road North onto Queen Street West.
    • During Stage 1, it will not be possible to turn right from Queen Street West onto McLaughlin Road North.
    • During Stage 2, it will not be possible to turn right from McLaughlin Road North into Queen Street West.
    • These traffic restrictions will be required from 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, until 5 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025 (weather dependent). These diagrams and timelines may change based on the work and how it progresses.

During this time, police officers will be on site for the community’s safety.

Driveway access for all residents within the work area will be maintained during Stage 1 and 2.

We apologize for any delays or inconvenience resulting from these traffic impacts.

    Transit impacts

    • The northbound bus stop #2172 on McLaughlin Road South serving routes 1 & 3 will be shifted south, farther from Queen Street West.
    • The southbound bus stop #2234 on McLaughlin Road North serving routes 3 & 57 will be shifted north, farther from Queen Street West.

    Pedestrian impacts

Please follow our posted signage for any pedestrian impacts around the intersection.

    Safety during construction

Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible.
