Project 18-1310 C2 - February 5, 2026 update
Streets affected: Dundas Street East
Project update
Peel Region has been working in your community to replace the watermain along Dundas Street East. This essential project is part of our commitment to maintaining and improving your water services.
To date, the project has involved replacing approximately 1,113 metres of watermain along Dundas Street East, from Dixie Road to the Region of Peel border in the City of Mississauga. Two remaining watermain connections are still required to fully integrate the new watermain into the existing system. Restoration of disturbed areas including sod, driveway asphalt, and other surface features will also be completed. Any outstanding restoration work will be carried out in the spring, when weather conditions allow.
Construction schedule
Construction was initially scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025. However, due to age of Dundas Street East, we have encountered several abandoned utilities and undocumented underground obstructions through the project area. These unforeseen challenges and winter weather have caused significant design changes and restoration delays, extending the project timeline to May 2026.
Please note that these timelines are estimates and may be affected by weather conditions or other unexpected events. All construction work completed as part of this project will be covered by a two-year warranty from the date of completion.
Contractor working hours
The remaining work is being completed by Sam Rabito Construction Limited, with support from EXP, both contracted by Peel Region. This contractor’s regular working hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday, in accordance with local municipal bylaws. While we understand this may cause some inconvenience, reducing working hours would extend the construction timeline in your neighborhood.
To minimize the impact on traffic congestion, the City of Mississauga has granted permission under the Noise Bylaw for certain work to take place on Saturdays and occasionally overnight. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we work to complete this project as efficiently as possible.
Traffic and parking
During the remaining construction, there will be some traffic and pedestrian interruptions. If traffic needs to be rerouted, clear directional signs will be placed to guide drivers.
