    Project 18-1310 C - April 16 2025 - Update

Easter Weekend Project Update - Watermain Replacement and Improvement - Dundas Street East

Peel Region has been working in your community to replace the watermain along Dundas Street East. This essential project is part of our commitment to maintaining and improving your water services.

Easter weekend (April 17 – 21) construction information

    • There will be no construction from Thursday night, April 17, until Monday morning, April 21
    • All business accesses and streets that cross Dundas Street will be open and available
    • Dundas Street westbound and eastbound lanes will be opened where possible
    • The bus stop at Neilco Court will be closed, however, the stop at Jarrow Avenue will be available

    Transit updates

    • Bus stop #0878 westbound Dundas Street at Neilco Court will be closed
    • Bus stop #1192 westbound Dundas at Jarrow Avenue will be open
    • Service updates are available at miway.ca/service-updates
    • Please follow the posted signage for any transit impacts. Signs will direct the public to either the nearest temporary or existing bus stop.

    Overall construction information and schedule

The work involves replacing approximately 1,113 meters of watermain on Dundas Street East from Dixie Road to the border of Peel Region and Toronto. At this time, there is approximately 75m of watermain left to install. This work will be followed by water service connections to area businesses, paving and restoration.

Construction was initially scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024. However, due to the age of Dundas Street East, several abandoned utilities were discovered, as well as undocumented underground obstructions. These unforeseen challenges have caused significant design changes and delays, extending the project timeline to July 2025. These timelines are estimates and may be affected by weather conditions or other unexpected events.

    Contractor working hours

To minimize traffic congestion, the City of Mississauga has granted permission under the Noise Bylaw for certain work to take place on Saturdays (not including Easter weekend) and occasionally overnight (between 2 a.m. and 8 a.m.). We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.

The work is being completed by Moretti Excavating Limited, with support from EXP, under contract to Peel Region.

This contractor's regular working hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday, under local municipal bylaws. While we understand this may cause some inconvenience, reducing working hours would extend the construction timeline in your neighborhood.

    Traffic impacts

We understand that residents/businesses/commuters have experienced significant lane reductions and increased traffic congestion. We are improving this by ensuring line painting is kept up to date and opening lanes wherever possible.

    Keeping you informed

Weather and other unpredictable events may change the date of these traffic impacts. Receive timely project updates right to your inbox by signing up for e-notices.

Information on this project can also be found on the project page.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this necessary work. This work will allow us to continue providing you with high quality tap water. If you have any questions, please contact us.
