Project 10-1205 C5 - December 5, 2025 update
Area affected: Applewood Trail at Burnhamthorpe Road East
Project update – path closures extended
Peel Region is working in your area on major upgrades to the Hanlan watermains, part of Peel’s most critical infrastructure. These upgrades include watermain installation and valve chamber upgrades.
Watermains are underground pipes that bring tap water from our water treatment facility to your neighbourhood. Valve chambers are underground concrete boxes that provide access to important equipment associated with the watermains. As our population grows, we need to build larger watermains and maintain existing infrastructure to continue to provide you with high-quality water services.
Pedestrian path closures
We need to close certain sections of the Applewood Hills Trail, as shown on the attached map, to complete the work at the Burnhamthorpe locations.
Due to unforeseen construction delays, the temporary path and Burnhamthorpe Trail both north/south and east/west will remain closed until Friday, December 19, 2025. Detour signage will remain in place for the duration of the work.
Contractor working hours
Clearway Construction will complete the work supported by consultant Jacobs under contract to Peel Region. Working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with local municipal bylaws and help shorten the amount of time construction is in your area.
