Notice of study completion - June 11, 2026

Schedule C Class Environmental Assessment for West Caledon Storage Facility and Transmission Mains

    Background

Peel Region completed the 2020 Water and Wastewater Master Plan for the Lake-based Systems, which identified the need to construct a new pressure zone 7W water storage and transmission main infrastructure for West Caledon. This Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) was initiated to support this recommendation by developing, evaluating, and selecting a preferred storage facility and transmission main route to service the projected growth within the study area to 2051.

    Preferred design concept

The preferred design concept evaluation and selection was presented during the third and final in-person Public Information Centre (PIC) on October 7, 2025. The preferred design concept includes the following components:

    • New elevated storage tank located on a property along Mississauga Road, approximately 500 m south of Old School Road.
    • New transmission main from the Alloa Pumping Station and Reservoir (1278 Mayfield Road), through a new easement north of Mayfield Road to Mississauga Road, where it extends north to the new elevated storage tank site.
    • New feedermain from the elevated storage tank site, extending south on Mississauga Road to connect into the existing water system at Mayfield Road and Mississauga Road.

    Your input is important

Your input is important to the Class EA process. You are invited to review the draft Environmental Study Report (ESR) and provide the Project Team with any feedback and comments. This report summarizes the study, including the development and evaluation of alternative strategies, the proposed implementation plan, and the associated consultation with agencies, the public, and Indigenous Communities through each phase of the Class EA process.

    Environmental Study Report

The draft ESR will be available for a 30-day public review starting June 11 and ending on July 10, 2026 on the project webpage. All comments or requests must be received within the 30-day public review period.

Peel Region is committed to ensuring that all Peel services, programs, and facilities are inclusive and accessible. Please contact the Project Manager if you need any accommodations to provide comments and/or feedback for this study.

    Comments or request submissions

If you wish to submit comments and/or concerns on this study, please contact the Project Manager listed below. In addition, a request may be made to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks for a Section 16 order requiring a higher level of study (i.e. an individual/ comprehensive EA approval) or that conditions be imposed (e.g. further studies), only on the grounds that the requested order may prevent, mitigate or remedy adverse impacts on constitutionally protected Indigenous and treaty rights. Requests on other grounds will not be considered.

Requests should specify what kind of order is being requested (request for additional conditions or a request for an individual/ comprehensive environmental assessment), how an order may prevent, mitigate or remedy adverse impacts on Indigenous and treaty rights, and any information in support of the statements in the request. This will ensure that the ministry is able to efficiently begin reviewing the request.

    Ministry contacts

The request should include the requester's contact information and full name, and should be sent in writing or by email to both:
