Airport Road Complete Corridor Study and Preliminary Design Improvements
Peel Region is undertaking a Complete Corridor Study and Preliminary Design Improvements to Airport Road from Derry Road to Intermodal Drive within Brampton and Mississauga (the Study).
Airport Road between Derry Road and Intermodal Drive is an important artery through Peel. It helps move goods and supports the local economy by connecting users to destinations including Pearson International Airport and Highway 407.
Airport Road also links the communities of Malton and Northeast Brampton to public transit, such as the Malton GO Station, as well as schools, religious centres, convention centres, and businesses.
The Study will recommend a functional design solution to transform Airport Road into a “Complete Corridor” that ensures safe, convenient, and comfortable travel for all users.
It will include public and stakeholder engagement throughout the planning and design process, examine ways to improve travel for pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, transit users, and individuals with accessibility needs, and identify design options that enhance safety, connectivity, and overall corridor performance across all transportation modes.
A primary focus will be creating physical separation between cyclists and vehicle traffic to improve safety and encourage cycling as a sustainable travel option.
Opportunities to enhance traffic operations and connectivity will be explored, along with measures to support efficient goods movement along the corridor and address infrastructure renewal to maintain a state of good repair for existing assets such as bridges, pavements, sidewalks and retaining walls.
The Study is being conducted to assess current conditions and determine potential impacts associated with implementing the recommended design options.
Your comments are welcome at any time. If you have any feedback about the study area or questions regarding this project, please contact the Peel Region Project Manager.
