Head of Council application and appointment process
In keeping with the Better Regional Governance Act, 2026, the Ontario government has announced its intention to appoint the next Head of Council of Peel Region, for the term beginning on November 15, 2026 and ending November 13, 2030, or as determined by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
Applicants must:
- Be eligible to vote in a lower tier municipality within the Regional Municipality of Peel.
- Meet certain eligibility requirements and demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.
Applications must be submitted through the Ontario Government’s Public Appointments website by July 13, 2026.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing and invited for an interview.
