Sanitary sewer improvement

Old King Road. Project 17-2280

Peel Region has been working in your neighbourhood to install new sanitary sewers along Old King Road, Albion Vaughan Road, Nunnville Road, Queensgate Boulevard, Harvestview Avenue, Sant Farm Drive and Riverwood Terrace. This work will allow us to continue providing you with high quality wastewater services.

Notice of extended construction hours

It will be necessary for construction to take place later into the evening on December 1, 2023, along Old King Road. On this date, crews will be working from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. at the tunnel access points located:

A longer workday is required to complete operations that must happen continuously. At this stage of construction, we have drilled a tunnel underground. On December 1, 2023, we will be installing the new sewer pipe in the tunnel by pulling the new pipe from one tunnel access point to the other. We apologize in advance for any inconveniences caused by this work.

Traffic impacts

Old King Road will be reduced to a single shared lane just to the west of the current road closure at Old King Road and Deer Hollow Court. Where a single lane is shared with oncoming traffic, please be sure to yield to oncoming traffic as stated by the road signs. These lane reductions are expected to occur from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. on December 1, 2023. Please expect delays and choose alternate routes if possible.

Driveway access

Homes on Old King Road, west of Deer Hollow Court may have their driveways temporarily blocked on December 1, 2023, while tunneling activities are underway.

For these residents:

For ease of convenience, we kindly ask you to avoid parking in your driveway from 6 a.m. until 12 a.m. on December 1, 2023. To provide an alternate parking location, residents are encouraged to obtain a pass to park on nearby streets outside the construction zone. Residents can apply for these free temporary parking passes from the Town of Caledon by visiting caledon.ca/en/living-here/parking-pass.aspx.

If this work is rescheduled due to weather or other unforeseen events, the construction crew will knock on your door to let you know the new date and time.

Noise

We do not anticipate significant noise or vibrations above normal daytime construction levels during these operations. Efforts will be made to reduce impacts to local residents as much as possible.

Safety during construction

Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible.
