Watermain replacement and improvements

Greenmount Road - Project 23-1340 C

Peel Region has been working in your neighbourhood to replace the watermain along Greenmount Road. This work is required to maintain and improve existing water services.

At this stage in the project, temporary road closures and lane reductions will be required to complete this work.

Traffic impacts

Greenmount Road will be closed to through traffic at the following locations as shown on the attached map:

These temporary road closures are expected to occur intermittently from November 2023 until January 2024 and will take place one at a time. The road closures will occur on weekdays from 7a.m. until 7p.m. and are anticipated to be one day in duration.

Residents who live on the street will have access to their homes. Access to businesses will be maintained. No through traffic will be allowed. Only emergency service vehicles and school buses will be permitted to cross through the closure with guidance from the onsite contractor.

Greenmount Road will be reduced to a single shared lane between Glenvale Boulevard and Central Park Drive. Where a single lane is shared with oncoming traffic, please be sure to yield to oncoming traffic as stated by the traffic control signs. These lane reductions are expected to occur from November 2023 until Fall 2024.

These lanes will be closed on weekdays from 7p.m. until 7a.m., and all-day during weekends.

During construction, traffic will be directed by police officers or flag persons. Please expect delays and choose alternate routes if possible.

We apologize for any delays or inconvenience resulting from these traffic impacts.

Safety during construction

Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe - pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible.
