Sanitary Sewer Replacement and Improvement
Tullamore Road at Kennedy Road South (Regional Road 16) Project 19-2300E
The Region of Peel will be working in your neighbourhood to replace the aging sanitary sewer along Tullamore Road. This work is required to maintain and improve existing wastewater services.
Some upcoming work will take place overnight, in order to install a sewer pipe at the intersection of Tullamore Road and Kennedy Road South. Completing this work will require lane closures on Kennedy Road South. We apologize in advance for any inconveniences caused by this work.
Schedule
To minimize traffic impacts, this work is expected to take place continuously, including overnight, from 5 p.m. on Sunday February 5, 2023, until 7 p.m. on Monday February 6, 2023.
Traffic impacts
- During this time, a temporary lane closure will be required. Kennedy Road South will be reduced to a single lane in each direction from Tullamore Court to Stafford Drive. Please expect delays and choose alternate routes if possible. A detour route will be clearly marked with road signs. If the work finishes early, the road will be re-opened to regular traffic. In the event of poor weather conditions delaying the work, an additional notice will be provided.
- On these dates, Tullamore Road will also be closed to incoming and outgoing traffic at the intersection of Kennedy Road South. Vehicles will be able to access Tullamore Road from the west end of the street. During this closure, a detour route will be clearly marked with road signs. Residents who live on the closed portion of Tullamore Road will have access to their homes and businesses.
Transit impacts
To complete this work, it will be necessary to temporarily relocate the following City of Brampton bus stops from 5 p.m. on Sunday February 5, 2023 until 7 p.m. on Monday February 6, 2023:
- The southbound bus stop at 133 Kennedy Road South will be relocated approximately 100 metres north from its current location.
- The northbound bus stop at 134 Kennedy Road South will be relocated approximately 35 metres south from its current location.
City of Brampton Transit will install and remove the temporary bus stop signage.
Noise
We do not anticipate significant noise or vibrations above normal daytime construction levels during these operations. Efforts will be made to reduce impacts to local residents as much as possible.
Safety during construction
Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible. Learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones.
