Watermain and sanitary sewer replacement and improvement

Main Street from Nelson Street West / Theatre Lane to Wellington Street. Project 18-1380

Peel Region will be temporarily repairing and resurfacing the road where it was disturbed by our recent watermain and sanitary sewer construction. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your cooperation while we finish this work.

Schedule

The road paving activities will take place on Main Street from Nelson Street West / Theatre Lane to Wellington Street. The traffic impacts are anticipated to start as early as 7 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024, until as late as 7 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Road paving activities may be delayed due to weather conditions, as paving cannot take place when the ground is saturated with water, or the temperature is below 7°C.

Regular working hours will be Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Parking and driveway access

There will be no on-street parking within the construction area. Please ensure the road is cleared of vehicles (and any type of materials) at these times.

We apologize for any inconveniences resulting from this paving work.

Traffic impacts

We will need to reduce traffic to a single lane in each direction during these paving activities. Work will be phased to minimize traffic disruption in the area. There will be brief impacts while we are passing through the intersections. During this time, traffic will be directed by police officers or flag persons. If we must reroute traffic, we will place signs giving directions.

Transit impacts

Bus stop numbers 1785, 1786, 1787, 1733 and 1732 may need to be shifted slightly as they are within the active construction zone. Please follow signage that will be posted on existing bus stops on Main Street.

Safety during construction

Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible.
