Notice of Public Meeting regarding the proposed North West Brampton Policy Area Shale Resources Policies Regional Official Plan Amendment (ROPA)

The Region of Peel will hold a statutory public meeting on the proposed North West Brampton Policy Area Shale Resources Policies Regional Official Plan Amendment (ROPA), pursuant to Subsections 17(15) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter P.13 as amended.

Purpose and Effect of the Draft North West Brampton Shale Resources Policies ROPA

The purpose and effect of the draft North West Brampton Shale Resources Policies ROPA is to make revisions to the shale protection policies of the Regional Official Plan applying to the Northwest Brampton Policy Area (NWBPA), including removal of shale protection within the NWBPA, excluding the portion outside the Regional Urban Boundary within the Provincial Greenbelt Plan Area. The Amendment proposes to delete and replace policies 5.3.4.1.6 and 5.3.4.2.2 f) and g) to the Regional Official Plan, including revisions to High Potential Mineral Aggregate Resource Area mapping on Schedule C.

The public meeting will provide the public with an opportunity to make representations in respect of the proposed North West Brampton Shale Resources Policies ROPA.

Any person may attend the public meeting and/or provide written or verbal representation on the draft North West Brampton Shale Resources Policies ROPA. Location of Subject Lands

The draft North West Brampton Shale Resources Policies ROPA applies to all lands in the City of Brampton that fall within the North West Brampton Policy Area (PDF).

If you wish to be notified of the decision of the Council of The Regional Municipality of Peel on the proposed official plan amendment, you must make a written request to Kathryn Lockyer, Director and Regional Clerk at:

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the Council of The Regional Municipality of Peel to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to The Regional Municipality of Peel before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to The Regional Municipality of Peel before the proposed official plan amendment is adopted, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.
