The Regional Municipality of Peel
By-law number 54-2026

A by-law to prohibit trucks on affected Regional Roads, to implement full-time heavy truck restriction on Regional Road 7 between Regional Road 9 and Regional Road 24, and on Regional Road 22 between Regional Road 50 and Regional Road 7, and to amend By-law number 15-2013 being a by-law to regulate traffic on roads under the jurisdiction of The Regional Municipality of Peel.

Whereas, the Council of the Regional Corporation on the 24th day of January 2013 passed By-law 15-2013 to consolidate the by-laws that regulate traffic on roads under jurisdiction of The Regional Municipality of Peel;

And whereas, the Council of The Regional Municipality of Peel has by resolution passed on the 9th day of July, 2026 authorized the enactment of a by-law to amend Section 2 of By-law 15-2013;

And whereas, the Council of The Regional Municipality of Peel has by resolution passed on the 9th day of July, 2026 authorized the enactment of a by-law to amend By-law 15-2013 effective July 9, 2027 to implement a full-time heavy truck restriction on Regional Road 7 (Airport Road) between Regional Road 9 (King Street) and Regional Road 24 (Charleston Sideroad);

And whereas, the Council of The Regional Municipality of Peel has by resolution passed on the 9th day of July, 2026 authorized the enactment of a by-law to amend By-law 15-2013 effective July 9, 2027 to implement a full-time heavy truck restriction on Regional Road 22 (Old Church Road) between Regional Road 7 (Airport Road) and Regional Road 50;

Now therefore, the Council of the Regional Corporation enacts as follows:

  1. That Section 2 of By-law 15-2013 is hereby amended by deleting the following term:

    “Heavy Truck” means a Commercial Motor Vehicle having a weight when unloaded, of three tonnes or more, or when loaded, of five tonnes or more, but does not include a passenger vehicle, an ambulance or any Vehicle of a police or fire department.

  2. That Section 2 of By-law 15-2013 is hereby amended by adding the following term:

    “Heavy Truck” means a Commercial Motor Vehicle having a registered gross vehicle weight of four thousand five hundred (4,500) kilograms or more, but does not include a passenger vehicle, an ambulance or any Vehicle of a police or fire department.;

  3. That Part 18 of Schedule A of By-law 15-2013 is amended by deleting the following:
