The Regional Municipality of Peel
By-law number 20-2017
A by-law to amend By-law 6-2017, being a by-law to regulate the Municipal Drinking Water System of The Regional Municipality of Peel.
Whereas the Region operates the Municipal Drinking Water System pursuant to the Ontario Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002, S.O. 2002, c. 32;
And whereas, the Council of The Regional Municipality of Peel ("Region") on January 26, 2017, enacted By-law 6-2017 respecting the supply of water, the management and maintenance of the Municipal Drinking Water System and the establishment of water rates and charges;
And whereas, a Set Fines Application has been sent to the Ministry of the Attorney General for processing pursuant to Council Resolution 2017-45 passed on January 26, 2017;
And whereas, the Ministry of the Attorney General requested a minor change in wording to By-law 6-2017 in order to complete the processing of the Set Fines Application;
And whereas, the Council of the Region wishes to amend By-law 6- 2017 in order to meet the Ministry of the Attorney General's request;
Now therefore, the Council of the Regional Corporation enacts as follows:
- By-law 6-2017 is hereby amended by deleting Section 28 and replacing it with the following:
"28. No person shall open, or in any way alter a Water Meter or the seals placed on a Water Meter, or bypass or do anything that interferes with, or may interfere with, the proper registration of the amount of water passing through a Water Meter, without authorization by the Region."
Effective date
- This By-law, as amended, shall come into force and take effect on April 13, 2017.
