RNAO Honours Peel's 10 Years as a Best Practice Spotlight Organization

Brampton, ON. (June 24, 2024) - Peel Region Long Term Care (LTC) was recognized for achieving 10 years as a Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) at the 99th Annual General Meeting of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) last week in Toronto.

BPSO Achievement 2024

The BPSO program, championed by RNAO, demonstrates the impact of evidence-based practice cultures. The systematic implementation and evaluation of best practice guidelines have gained international recognition and significantly improved patient experience and health outcomes. It has also led to a notable decrease in the cost of care and a substantial boost in staff satisfaction.

Peel Region LTC is prioritizing RNAO's Promoting 2SLGBTQI+ Health Equity best practice guideline. This guideline aims to provide safe and inclusive environments for 2SLGBTQI+ residents and ensure that staff provide inclusive care based on assessed needs, preferences, and personal choices.

Advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion for our workforce and the community is a priority and a commitment that we hold dear at Peel Region.

I'm delighted that Peel Region was recognized for our long-term commitment to implementing, evaluating and disseminating RNAO’s best practice guidelines. During Pride Month, I am doubly proud that these best practice guidelines are helping us ensure safe and inclusive environments for 2SLGBTQI+ residents in our long term care centres.
