Contractor and working hours

The work will be completed by Ground Breakers Contracting Ltd. and supported by Jacobs Consultancy Canada, both under contract to the Region of Peel.

This contractor’s normal working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with the local municipality’s bylaws. Due to the urgent nature of this repair work, there may be times when work will be completed later into the evenings or over the weekend. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but shorter work weeks would require your neighbourhood to be under construction for a longer period of time. We will attempt to minimize overnight and weekend work whenever possible.

Water service impacts

We do not expect this work to affect your water service.

Traffic and parking

We may need lane reductions during construction. If we need to reroute traffic, we will place signs giving directions.

Areas impacted by construction

This watermain repair work will require digging a trench within the municipal right-of-way, which includes the street and the land owned by the municipality next to the street. Depending on the location of the watermain, this trench might cause temporary damage to roads, curbs, sidewalks, boulevards, driveway aprons, and lawns within the municipal right-of-way.

Repairing areas impacted by construction

We will start repairing the road, curb and sidewalk once the repair work is complete. Repairs may be delayed due to contractor or material availability or certain seasonal weather conditions.

For example:

Watermain operating activities

Completing this repair work will require first draining the watermain, and then occasional activities to maintain water quality. You may notice a crew conducting this work at the following locations:

This work may need to be conducted overnight however we expect it to have minimal impact on the public.

The City of Mississauga, under the Noise Bylaw, is allowing this work to be completed overnight.

Noise and vibrations

You could feel slight vibrations from the construction work.

There will be a standby generator and pumps set up at various locations to support this work. This may temporarily cause some noise.

Safety during construction

Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible.
