Watermain replacement and improvement

Woodhurst Heights Park. Project 20-1310 I4

The Region of Peel has been working in your neighborhood to replace the watermains along Basswood Crescent, Shadbush Court, Greenbower Court, Longleaf Court, Pitch Pine Crescent and Peachtree Court. This work is required to maintain and improve existing water services in the area.

Instead of digging trenches through Woodhurst Heights Park to replace the watermain under the park, Peel Region’s contractors will clean the existing watermain and place a new resin (plastic) lining within it. This work will be completed underground with specialized equipment and will reduce disturbance to the park grounds. We are lining the watermain instead of replacing because of access restrictions and conflicts with existing structures.

Construction schedule

Construction through Woodhurst Heights Park is planned to begin the week of March 20, 2023 and be completed in mid-2023. These timelines are estimates, as weather and other unexpected events may impact our timelines.

All work is under warranty for two years from the completion date.

Contractor and working hours

The work will be completed by Timbel Ltd. under contract to the Region of Peel. This contractor’s normal working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday. These hours are consistent with the local municipality’s bylaws. We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but shorter working days would require your neighbourhood to be under construction for a longer period of time.

Interrupting your water supply

We anticipate that this construction project will require temporarily shutting off your water.

For residents:

Walkway closures to Woodhurst Heights Park

To keep pedestrians safe during construction, it will be necessary to close the walkways leading to Woodhurst Heights Park from:

These walkways will be closed beginning March 20, 2023 until the work is completed.

Woodhurst Heights Park may still be accessed from Pitch Pine Crescent, Oak Row Crescent, Longleaf Court, Ash Row Crescent, Peachtree Court, and Woodhurst Crescent.

Traffic impacts

We may need to temporarily close roads or reduce traffic to a single lane during construction. If we must reroute traffic, we will place signs giving directions. On-street parking will be reduced during construction when we are actively working on your street.

Safety during construction

Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible.
