Inspection and maintenance work starting in your area

Project 13-1405

The Region is planning to inspect and conduct maintenance activities inside a large watermain in your area. This large watermain, called the Meadowvale Feedermain, extends from the Streetsville Pumping Station (located on Erin Mills Parkway near Erin Centre Boulevard) to the Meadowvale North Pumping Station (located on Meadowvale Boulevard near Meadowpine Boulevard).

Watermains are underground pipes which bring tap water from our water treatment plant to your neighbourhood. As pipes age, we monitor and maintain them to continue providing you with high quality tap water.

Schedule

The inspection and maintenance activities are expected to begin in November 2022 and be completed in early 2023. The watermain will be put back in service by Spring 2023.

Activities in your neighbourhood

Before the inspection and maintenance activities can take place, we will need to complete the following activities:

Changes to your tap water

As a result of these activities, you may notice your tap water looks cloudy, discoloured, or has particles in it. If this happens, run your tap for a few minutes until the water runs clear. We do not expect this inspection or maintenance work to interrupt your water service.

Noise

There will be a standby generator and pumps set up at various locations to support these operations. This may temporarily cause some noise.

Night work

There may be overnight activities which are expected to have minimal impact on the public.

Traffic impacts

We may need to reduce lanes at different locations at various times. We may need to reduce lanes on Derry Road, Glen Erin Boulevard, Aquitaine Avenue and other smaller streets in your area. Paid duty officers will be directing motorists at intersections with traffic lights.

Safety during construction

Construction zones require extra caution to keep everyone safe – pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, and construction workers. When driving, walking, or biking through the construction area, please be aware of your surroundings, watch for construction crews and other road users, slow down, account for delays, and consider other routes if possible. To learn more about how to stay safe in construction zones, visit peelregion.ca/construction/workzonesafety.

Keeping you informed

We will let you know if there are any major changes to the plans.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this necessary work. This work will allow us to continue providing you with safe, reliable and high-quality drinking water. If you have any questions, please contact us.
