Healthy Pledge Program

Healthy choices made easy for kids

Children spend majority of their day at school, so it is vital to create a health-conscious school environment. The H.E.A.L.T.H.Y Pledge Program (High-impact, Easy Approach Leading to Healthier Youth) involves Public Health Nurses working with school principals to select the pledge that will provide the most benefit to the school and focuses on healthy eating, physical activity and improving mental well-being.

There are four pledges to choose from: Healthy Fundraising, Healthy Beverages, Physical Activity Programs and, Daily Physical Activity. In its first year, more than 160 schools are participating in the H.E.A.L.T.H.Y Pledge Program to create a healthier future for Peel.

“As part of the Healthy Beverages Pledge, our school was selected to receive a refillable water station to encourage students to regularly consume water. This will benefit all students by making it easier for them to choose water as their preferred beverage of choice. The partnership we have developed with the Region of Peel has made it possible for us to support our students in developing healthy habits that will help them succeed in both school and life.” - Settler's Green, Peel District School Board.
