Creating the feeling of home
What does home look like, sound like, and feel like? Dementia care homes don’t have to be stark, institutional spaces where everything looks the same. They can be full of colour, music, the stuff of life, and most importantly, memories from a life well lived.
Home areas with laundry rooms and kitchen workspaces offer the familiarity of household chores, give purpose to the day, and recreate the smells of home – fresh laundry, baking bread or cookies, coffee brewing. Family photos, keepsakes, and mementos aren’t just tucked away into bedrooms, they are on display for everyone to see, much like in our own homes.
