What is World Town Planning Day?
World Town Planning Day is a day to recognize and promote the role of planning has in communities around the world.  It has been celebrated in more than thirty countries every November 8 since 1949. World Town Planning Day presents an excellent opportunity to value the importance of planning in creating liveable communities and sustainable development that contribute to social, economical and environmental well-being.

Why Celebrate World Town Planning Day?

  • To draw attention to the objectives and progress of urban and regional planning around the world;
  • To highlight the valuable contributions sound planning has made to the quality of global human settlements and their environment; and
  • To give worldwide coverage to the ideals of urban and regional planning not only within the profession but also among the general public.

How will the Region of Peel Celebrate?
On November 8, 2006, displays will be at Access Peel in 10 Peel Centre Dr. to illustrate the strength and challenges of planning in Peel Region.
