School dental screening

Dental screening provided to children in select grades in publicly funded elementary schools.

Dental screening in elementary schools has resumed.

Good oral health is important to a child’s overall health. Untreated tooth decay may lead to pain and infection which may result in difficulty eating, speaking, and learning.

Dental screening is provided in select grades in Peel publicly funded elementary schools. Contact your child's school for more information.

A dental screening identifies children who may need dental care. For children who visit their own dental professional, a dental screening at school can be used as an extra look inside the child's mouth by a registered dental hygienist.

School dental screening exemption

If you do not want your child to receive a free dental screening, call us or complete the school dental screening exemption form.

Exemptions must be completed at least one day before your school starts dental screening. If we do not receive the exemption by the deadline, there is a chance your child could have already been screened. If dental screening has already started, call us.
