Summer Job Challenge for Youth

We're helping youth soar to new heights.

Are you a youth living in Peel and looking for a summer job?  You can apply to the Region's Summer Job Challenge.

Each year, we give 150 youth an opportunity to earn income and gain valuable work experience.  These entry-level jobs last for 2 months over the summer.

Youth will be hired to work for:

The rate of pay is $14 per hour for 35 hours per week.  You don't need any previous work experience to apply.

More than one youth per household may apply. However, participation in the Summer Job Challenge program may be limited to one youth per household.

Step 2: Apply

The application period closes at 4:30 p.m. on April 6, 2018.

You can complete an application in-person at the Human Services Reception at one of the following locations:

Timing Activity
April 6 (4:30 p.m.) Application period closes.
Mid-April to May Screening and interviews with selected youth will be held at various locations throughout Peel. We will tell you if you were successful, and you will be matched with an employer. For youth who are not selected, we will give you additional resources.
July 3 and 4 Hired youth gather for two full-day Region of Peel employee orientation sessions, including health and safety, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, employer expectations and relevant employment preparation workshops to introduce them to the workplace.
July 5 Hired youth start work with their assigned placement. They will receive an orientation to their Regional department or community agency and their work site.
August 24 Hired youth gather for a one-day symposium to prepare for next steps in their job search, return to school, etc.
