Port Credit East Water and Wastewater Servicing Optimization Strategy Class Environmental Assessment

Public Information Center No. 3 – comments received

Public Information Centre (PIC) No. 3 was held in person on June 14, 2023, at Clarke Memorial Hall – Main Hall (161 Lakeshore Road West) from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Since this was the final PIC for this project, the comment period was extended until July 7, 2023 to allow additional time to receive questions, comments and feedback regarding the material presented at this PIC.

PIC No. 3 presented the preliminary preferred design concepts for the water and wastewater servicing strategies, which includes the following study components:

  1. New Deep Trunk Sewer on Lakeshore Road,
  2. New Sub-Transmission Watermain on Lakeshore Road,
  3. New Rosemere Sewage Pumping Station (SPS) and associated Twinned Forcemains, and
  4. Decommissioning of Elmwood, and Hiawatha SPS and associated Gravity Sewers.

This PIC material will remain posted on the Port Credit East project website.

The Notice of PIC No. 3 was distributed by email/mail to the study contact list and study area residents and businesses and published in the newspaper and Region social media. The following includes a summary of comments received:

The Port Credit East study is being undertaken as a Schedule ‘C’ Municipal Class EA and will ensure public feedback is accepted during the prescribed milestones. This feedback was considered during the evaluation process to confirm the preferred design concept. The next step includes the preparation of the Environmental Study Report (ESR) which will undergo a 30-day public review prior to proceeding to Phase 5 (Implementation) of the Class EA process.
