Newcomers navigated through topics such as workplace culture, employment law, and tips for job searching. They received community resources to access support including resumé writing and interview preparation. Participants shared images of their experiences and understanding of working life in Canada.
By having a part-time job, we grow up and understand more of the word "adulthood".
I was at a minimum wage job for which I had to give up my morals, as well as my gender, to adhere to “Canadian standards” and have a "better life". This was a really bad experience, because I got to meet a prosperous white man, who owned 10 restaurants, while I was working overtime for minimum wage trying to secure my new life in Canada.
