Miles Regis, born in 1967, is a Trinidadian-born painter based in the United States whose work has been exhibited in solo and group shows internationally. Prolific in both the fine arts and fashion design, Regis freely swaps the materials and languages of each to enrich the other. His large-scale mixed media gestural paintings of richly hued abstract and figurative forms also incorporate collage elements of denim, buttons, leather, printed matter, sequins and patches of eclectically sourced found textiles.
Regis’ work explores themes of storytelling, activism, history and freedom. They can be found in the permanent collection of Intel Corporation and African American Museum in California. Regis has exhibited across the United States, the Caribbean and in South Africa. This is his first time exhibiting in Canada.
