Growth management program
The Region has adopted an integrated approach to planning, managing and financing growth, known as the Growth Management Program.
The Growth Management Program has an outcome focused on achieving a financially sustainable complete community, where the location and servicing of growth is optimized. This outcome is achieved through 4 key strategies:
- Managing revenues and expenditures
- Planning and managing the location and servicing of growth
- Leveraging business intelligence
- Internal and external collaboration
This integrated approach has resulted in a comprehensive framework that includes Regional Official Plan updates, water and wastewater planning and servicing, and financial and policy inputs to the development charge by-law. The Program produces an annual update report on the Region’s growth trends and development charge performance and a summary of initiatives undertaken under each strategy.
