  • An estimated 45% of Peel adults were overweight or obese in 2003,representing about 372,000 people. In both Peel and Ontario, adult maleswere more likely to be overweight or obese compared to females.

  • In 2003, the prevalence of overweight and obesity in adults increased across agegroups and levelled off at 50% for those aged 65 years and older in Peel.

  • Peel had a similar proportion of overweight and obese adults (45%) compared to itsneighbours in York (45%) and Halton (46%) regions, while Toronto had a lower prevalence (41%).
