Celebrating diversity strengthens communities, develops innovation, enhances art and enriches stories. Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) invites you to experience a celebration of Black history through these special events happening throughout February and beyond.

Saturday, Feb 16, 2:00-3:30 p.m.
Karolyn Smardz Frost
Meet award-winning author of I’ve Got a Home in Glory Land: A Lost Tale of the Underground Railroad. Karolyn Smardz Frost will discuss the process for her newest novel Steal Away Home and offer a book signing for the title; available for purchase onsite. Register for this event, free with the cost of admission to PAMA.

Monday, Feb 18, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Family Day
Bring the whole family and enjoy free admission from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Just some of the great family-friendly drop-in activities include a create-your-own polar bear winter scene and make an abstract art scratch board masterpiece.

Enjoy a family storytelling performance with Diana Brathwaite and Chris Whiteley: Sugar & Gold, Story of Underground Railroad in Canada. Performances at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Sunday Feb, 24, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
Winter Exhibitions Reception
Celebrate Black history with an afternoon of art, featured speakers, and a special choral performance. Light refreshments. Free admission.
