Film Permits

You need a film permit for shooting a film on Region of Peel property and streets:


Applying for your permit 10 working days before your filming:

  • Helps us prepare your filming location.
  • Keeps participants and other residents in your area safe during your filming.

Applying for a film permit

  1. Your completed Road Closure Application
  2. A letter of intent that details:
    • The production company name and complete address.
    • Name of the contact person.
    • Telephone, cell, fax numbers and/or email address.
    • Proposed location, street names and outer limits of filming boundary.
    • Proposed date and time (rain date if applicable).
    • Size of film crew and number of vehicles.
    • Brief description of filming, (i.e. moving shot with traffic stoppages -- up to 5 minutes accepted)
  3. Your completed insurance certificate (PDF 273KB). Your insurance certificate must:
    • Name the Region of Peel and the relevant Area Municipality
      as additional insured for an amount no less than $2 million.
    • Be provided to the Region of Peel a minimum of one (1) week prior to filming
  4. Your application fee of $200.00.
    Payment by Visa, MasterCard or cheque
    • Pay in-person and deliver your other application items to:

      • The Regional Municipality of Peel
        Public Works Department
        Transportation Division
        10 Peel Centre Dr., Suite B 4th Floor
        Brampton, ON. L6T 4B9
    • Payment by cheque
      • Make the cheque payable to the Region of Peel.
      • Mail or deliver your cheque along with your completed application,
        insurance certificate and letter of intent to:

        The Regional Municipality of Peel
        Public Works Department
        Transportation Division
        10 Peel Centre Dr., Suite B 4th Floor
        Brampton, ON. L6T 4B9

Your letter of intent, insurance certificate and payment is required a minimum of ten (10) working days prior to filming on Regional Roads, in order to process and approve the permit..


After you submit your application package

Once we've received the above items, we'll e-mail or fax an Approval Letter with a permit number and Indemnification and Hold Harmless Agreement to you.

Please return the signed Indemnification and Hold Harmless Agreement at least 1 week before your filming date and follow all the conditions outlined in your approved permit.


If you need to cancel

If you need to cancel filming, you must notify the Region of Peel.
