Preventing Homelessness in Peel Program (PHIPP)
Provides one- time financial assistance to eligible residents to help pay for utility (for example, hydro, natural gas), rent or mortgage arrears (overdue payments).
You may be eligible to receive assistance if you:
- live in Peel,
- are under threat of eviction, or are currently homeless or living in a temporary shelter,
- have tried all other options for financial and housing supports, including friends and family,
- are not eligible for Ontario Works (OW), Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), or financial support from any other agency, and
- have legal status in Canada: includes permanent citizen, legal immigration status/ landed immigrant (that is, not a visitor), convention refugee.
Step 1: Create your online Region of Peel account
(If you already have a Region of Peel account, skip to step 3.)
Step 2: Verify your account: look for the email in your inbox and follow the instructions
Step 3: Apply online
Note: When you apply, you will be asked several questions to determine whether you are eligible to receive Ontario Works (short-term financial assistance, services and program supports). If you are eligible for Ontario Works (OW) assistance, you will be directed to complete an OW application form.
After You Apply
After you submit your application, it will be reviewed for eligibility.
If you are not eligible, you will receive a letter in the mail.
If you are approved to receive funds, you will receive an information package in the mail.
