Sean Baird Joins Region of Peel as Commissioner of Digital and Information Services

BRAMPTON, ON – (June 8, 2018) Today, the Region of Peel is announcing that Sean Baird will be the new Commissioner of Digital and Information Services. In this role, Sean joins the members of Peel’s Executive Leadership Team overseeing the Region of Peel’s Digital Mandate. This includes our goal to provide engaging and seamless resident experiences through sustainable and integrated business and technology modernization.

Sean has a strong background in public sector transformation and large-scale service delivery modernization. His experience includes more than 17 years in both the private and public sector. In his most recent role as Vice President of Employer Services with the Workplace Safety Insurance Board, Sean led large-scale technology enablement focusing on customer experience.

“Sean’s background and experience in leading transformational change in the digital space will steer the Region towards achieving our outcomes as a future-oriented government with modernized service delivery. His work in municipal, provincial and first nations organizations will bring a diverse array of knowledge to the Region and help us continue to properly serve our ever growing and changing community,” said David Szwarc, Chief Administrative Officer at the Region of Peel. “We are pleased to welcome Sean to Peel and are confident that his expertise will help move us forward in realizing our vision of a Community for Life.”

Sean has a Bachelor’s of Commerce and a Master’s of Science in Business Administration, both from the University of British Columbia. He will be responsible for leading a team of staff who enable the Region to meet the growing and changing needs of residents and employees through secure, consistent, and reliable service innovation.
