Counting Peel's Homeless Population

In April, the Region will work with the Peel Alliance to End Homelessness and other community partners, to measure homelessness in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon.

A Point-In-Time Count will take place over a 24 hour period from April 24-25. It will create a snapshot of homelessness across Peel Region.

Trained volunteers will survey people sleeping on the streets, staying in shelters and short-term housing, and accessing support services. This information will be used to inform service planning and prioritize access to services.

The Region will measure homelessness once every two years, starting in 2018.

This is the first province-wide count in Canada. The count is funded by the Government of Canada and the Province of Ontario.
