The Region of Peel supports having a housing system with a range of housing options to provide residents with adequate affordable housing and support services.
Through the Peel community Housing and Homelessness Plan our goal is to have housing available at affordable rent levels to homeless and at risk individuals and families in our community.
This can only be accomplished through strong partnerships between all levels of government, the private sector, non-profit and co-operative housing providers and the community. Through these partnerships, our residents can benefit from the assets and expertise of all our partners.
The Region of Peel is looking for partners who can bring new and innovative thinking to help create affordable housing options in Peel. Non-profit organizations, existing housing providers and the private sector all have a part to play in helping increase the amount of affordable housing options available for the residents of Peel.
Together we can build healthy, sustainable and inclusive neighbourhoods.

Looking to submit a proposal for the development of Affordable Housing?
Affordable Housing development is a complex process working with many stakeholders. From the Region of Peel’s perspective, as funder of affordable housing, addressing the details noted in the following stages of development will allow for a comprehensive proposal response for submission.

The Mayfield West Seniors Apartment Building located at the corner of Kennedy Rd. and Stowmarket St. in Caledon will provide approximately 60 affordable rental units for seniors.
The building will include one-bedroom, two-bedroom and fully barrier-free units with the entire building being universally accessible. It will also include a large common room, scooter/bicycle room, on-site laundry room, outdoor court-yard, and a barbeque area.
Owned by the Region of Peel, the project will be funded in partnership between the Government of Canada, Province of Ontario and the Region of Peel.
Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2017 with an anticipated opening in Fall/Winter 2018.
The Hansen development located at 247 Queen St. E. in Brampton will provide 205 affordable rental units, including two floors for commercial retail use.
Owned and operated by Supportive Housing In Peel (SHIP), the project is funded in partnership between the Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario, the Region of Peel and SHIP.
The first tenants arrived at Hansen in November 2016, with full occupancy expected by March 2017
