East Avenue redevelopment project
The East Avenue site requires redevelopment due to its aging infrastructure and Peel Living’s priority to maximize the land to provide more affordable housing units in Peel.
Peel Living will provide sustainable, affordable housing for Peel residents within a complete community that is age-friendly, connected and environmentally responsible.
The East Avenue site (958/960 East Avenue) is a 1.9 acre site requiring redevelopment due to its aging infrastructure. Currently, there are two two-storey buildings with 30 units in total. One of the recommended options is to create a seven-storey building with up to 156 units. This recommendation will be further explored when developing a plan for the future site in the coming years.
Where we are now
In 2016–2017, a preliminary feasibility analysis and site study was conducted and shared with the Peel Living Board of Directors for review and, on September 7, 2017, the decision was made to move forward with the redevelopment with a preliminary budget of $45M to redevelop the East Avenue site.
In 2018, the project team will initiate, required planning approvals, design development and tenant relocation planning.
Preparation of the site for construction is anticipated to begin in late 2019.
