Arrow BulletZika Virus

Peel Public Health is monitoring the Zika virus situation in South Asia, Western Pacific Islands, and South and Central America, including the Caribbean and Mexico and continues to work with health sector partners to prepare for the event of a Zika case arriving in Peel.

The species of mosquito known to spread the Zika virus is not established in Canada and therefore the risk to Canadians remains low. The Government of Canada has a number of systems in place to identify serious infectious diseases.
