Medication Safety
Research suggests that taking more than four prescription medications can put you at risk for a fall because the possibility of drug interaction increases with the number of medications used.
Here are some tips:
- Keep an up-to-date list of your medications and know their purpose
- Use one pharmacy for all of your medication needs
- Make sure your pharmacist and doctor are aware of all of the prescription, over the counter and herbal medications you are taking
- Review your medications with your doctor or pharmacist every six months
- Take your medications as directed
- Check the expiry dates on your medications and dispose of any outdated, unused medications by returning them to your pharmacy
